Vibration Plate Therapy
We utilize Whole Body Vibration (WBV) to increase muscular recruitment - particularly in the legs. However, vibration is also a very strong sensory stimulus to the peripheral nerves that ultimately fire into the cerebellum and cortex. This has the potential to create plasticity in pathways associated with motor output. Whole body vibration can also induce lymphatic drainage through increases in muscular contraction and engagement.
We have seen WBV both increase range of motion and improve strength in legs and hips, taking pressure off of weakened back muscles. Patients tell us that they feel lighter and more mobile after WBV therapy. Not all patients are appropriate for this type of strong vibratory stimulus.
